The first time vocalist Lauren Germanow met guitarist Tom Lively, she yelled at him for the -- by his own admission -- indisputably crappy directions to the practice studio. Since that auspicious beginning, they've collaborated on several projects, the latest being the band Million Stars Missing. Million Stars Missing, which also includes guitarist Ronnie Spozio, drummer Randy Zamora and bassist Andrew Fristch, is defined by its deliberately eclectic sound. The band draws inspiration from all types of music and sees no reason to stick to a particular genre. Their songs mix bits of traditional American music (blues and jazz), classic film scores, and both classic and contemporary rock. Lauren's huge, fervent voice and catchy melodies are clearly the focus, but the band matches her with thoughtful, interactive arrangements that can be gentle and ethereal one moment and loud and churning the next.
